Seatbelt Stops Lead to Arrests

Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) A pair of traffic stops to enforce seatbelt violations ended in arrests Wednesday.

New York State Troopers arrested 37-year-old Edmund R. Tools of Buffalo following a traffic stop around 5:45 p.m.

Tools, who was found to have an active warrant for aggravated unlicensed operation 1st Degree, allegedly provided officers with a false name during the stop. A search of the vehicle yielded a pill bottle containing less than 25 grams of marijuana, according to police. Tools was charged with false impersonation, unlawful possession of marijuana and not wearing his seatbelt.

A traffic stop at 9:40 p.m. resulted in 20-year old James D. McKitchen of Buffalo being arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana.

According to police, a strong odor of marijuana was detected during the stop, and authorities allege McKitchen had four ounces of marijuana on his person.
