BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) - A recent string of violent crime has raised concerns regarding safety in the Elmwood Village.

Buffalo police say they have arrested a suspect in a shooting last Thursday on Ashland Avenue, and are investigating a lead in a shooting on Bird Avenue.

Many business owners we spoke with say they expect these minor incidents from time to time, but would like to see more police in the area.

"The Elmwood Village one of the safest, if not the safest, area in the City of Buffalo," said Michael DeGeorge, Spokesman for the Buffalo Police. "There is a heavy police presence in the Elmwood Village. If there are situations that do crop up or do occur, police would add more patrols."

If you have any information on these two incidents you are asked to call the Buffalo Police confidential tipline at 716-847-2255.
