Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - The murder trial against an Amherst woman accused of killing her eight-year-old daughter continued in court on Tuesday morning.

Prosecutors say Bianca Cartagena died at the hands of her mother in November of 2010.

On Tuesday, a paramedic testified he saw Bianca dead in a bedroom, and shortly after was called to respond to an "unresponsive woman" outside. That woman was Candace Cartagena, who claimed to have attempted a drug overdose.

However, the paramedic says multiple tests indicated she was "faking" being unconscious.

An Amherst police officer also testified, stating that Cartagena's behavior was inconsistent.

Cartagena allegedly told police she became suicidal around Thanksgiving. That's when prosecutors say Cartagena snapped -- Bianca had chosen to spend the holiday with her father.
