BUFFALO, NY ( release ) Buffalo police have arrested 40 year old Joel Anzalone of Buffalo in connection with this morning's stolen vehicle and then leading police on a pursuit.
Northwest District officers and the Buffalo Police Accident Investigation Unit were in charge of the investigation.
Anzalone, who has been arrested numerous times previously, faces a litany of charges including the attempted assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, driving while under the influence of drugs, criminal possession of stolen property and other charges.
Police say at one point, Anzalone backed up the stolen tan Chevy Trailblazer at a high rate of speed while in a driveway, striking a patrol car and almost hitting an officer. One officer did discharge his weapon in an attempt to disable the vehicle by shooting at the tires.
Anzalone continued to drive the vehicle, striking possibly three parked vehicles including the final one at Potomac and Parkdale where he also struck a fence and a house. Police then apprehended him where he was taken into custody.
No officers were injured but the one patrol car that was struck, suffered extensive damage.
