Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - Seventeen nursing home employees at HighPointe on Michigan are out of a job and face criminal charges.

Charges include abuse of a patient, neglect and documentation falsification.

Six of those arrested are health care workers.

HighPointe on Michigan is a Kaleida Health facility. Kaleida Health released a statement, saying in part, "This behavior, and lack of appropriate care, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. When we were made aware of the situation we took action. "

Kaleida Health says it is working with the Attorney General's office, and that it terminated the seven employees arrested on the basis of neglect.

The CWA Union also released a statement, stating that it plans to meet with its six members among the accused.

The Union also states, "We believe that our members are dedicated healthcare workers who strive to provide high quality patient care every day at work. CWA was saddened to hear of the allegations against these six members as patient neglect at any level is a tragedy and cannot be tolerated."

The former employees are expected to be arraigned Friday at two in the afternoon. Stay with Eyewitness News for the latest.
