U.S. Marshal Charles Salina, Western District of New York, and Niagara County Sheriff James R. Voutour on Friday announced the successful completion of “Operation Guardian Angel”, a multi law enforcement agency sex offender “sweep” targeting the address verification of Niagara County's registered sex offenders.
According to a news release:
On March 5th through March 28th a joint operation consisting of the United States Marshal Service, Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the Niagara Falls Police Department the North Tonawanda Police Department, the City of Lockport Police Department, and the Niagara County Probation Department performed a physical check of 406 registered sex offenders living in Niagara County.
As a result of this operation eight sex offenders were subject to arrest after it was determined they were not living at the addresses they reported to the New York State Sex Offender Registry in Albany.
As of Friday date, the operation has arrested seven out of eight of those non-compliant sex offenders and one additional offender who was found to be in violation of county probation. Additionally, another 21 offenders were brought back into compliance by updating their registrations.
Still at large on an outstanding warrant is Jimmie Davis, black male, age 36, last known address was in the City of Niagara Falls. Davis is a level 2 sex offender. Anyone with information on DAVIS’ location is asked to contact the Niagara Falls Police Department at 286-4547.
