CUBA, NY (WKBW/Release) - On September 11th, 2012 at approximately 3:45 P.M., the Town of Cuba Police Department responded to a report of an alleged homicide on South Shore Road in the Town of Cuba.
61-year-old, Susan Babcock, of 31 South Shore Road Cuba, New York was found deceased inside of her vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound.
Following a 9-hour investigation and a several hour manhunt, the suspect 69-year-old, Thomas Jerge, of 30 South Shore Road in the Town of Cuba, New York was found deceased with a self inflicted gunshot wound at a seasonal camp owned by the suspect .
Along with the suspect also located at the scene was the suspects deceased dog found with gunshot wounds.
The Cuba Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police, New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit, New York State Police K-9 Unit, New York State Police Swat, New York State Police Aviation Unit, Allegany County District Attorney’s Office, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Swat, Friendship Police Department, Cuba Fire Department, and the Cuba Ambulance Squad.
The Cuba Police Department will be holding a press conference, 5 Bull Street in the Town of Cuba, at 2:00 P.M. today.
