YORKSHIRE, N.Y. (WKBW) - A Yorkshire man was arrested and charged with DWI after allegedly driving through the scene of an accident.
According to State Police, around 3 a.m. Saturday morning, troopers were investigating a personal injury auto accident on McKinstry Road in the Town of Yorkshire.
That collision involved a vehicle which left the roadway, entered a yard, and struck a tree. While troopers continued to investigation, a gray van, driven by 39-year-old Jamie Havens, drove past emergency vehicles, onto the yard, and through the accident scene.
After interviewing Havens, Troopers quickly discovered he was intoxicated. Havens was placed under arrest for DWI.
Havens was issued tickets and is scheduled to face charges in Town of Yorkshire Court at a later date.
The driver involved in the initial accident was transported via helicopter to ECMC. Police believe alcohol was a factor in that collision.
Police are still investigating.
