TONAWANDA, NY (WKBW-TV) - Police in the Town of Tonawanda arrested 36-year-old Derie O. Mohamed and charged him with trespassing.
Mohamed was observed inside of Kenmore West school by several students and a teacher this past Tuesday. Police say he was not signed in as a visitor and had no legal right to be on the campus. Police say he was not armed and did not threaten anyone.
Police say Mohamed did state that he had visited Somalia a few years ago and made a disjointed reference to "Sandy Hook" and the he "wasn't a terrorist". These statements prompted the Police Department to contact the FBI; Mohamed was questioned by personnel from that agency.
The Ken-Ton school district did send home a call to parents this afternoon about Tuesday's incident.
Mohamed is scheduled to appear in the Town of Tonawanda court on February 13, 2014. He is currently being held at the Erie County Holding Center.
