EWN has just received this release from Erie County on a pot growing operation in Amherst:
Erie County Probation Officers, assisted by Amherst Police Officers, discovered a major marijuana growing operation during a series of 18 home calls in Amherst neighborhoods on Friday.
Officers found over 120 marijuana plants in various stages of development at the home of a 25 year old man on Kaymar Drive in Amherst. Felony charges are pending against the suspect. The DEA was investigating the crime scene to determine if federal charges are appropriate.
In addition to the marijuana growing operation, Amherst Police Officers issued five appearance tickets to individuals found in possession of marijuana at various locations. Appearance tickets were issued to 28 year old Erik Anderson of 100 Fairgreen, 25 year old Kerry Faircloth of 561A Allenhurst, and two other unidentified subjects at 149 Fairgreen and 47 Fairgreen. All were charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
“The Town of Amherst Police Department assisted the Erie County Probation Department with several house checks this morning of subjects currently on probation,” said Amherst Police Chief John J. Askey. “This was a successful operation which resulted in the discovery of several violations. The Town of Amherst Police Department thanks the Erie County Probation Department and looks forward to working together again in the future.”
The estimated street value of the recovered plants is approximately $200,000.
