Holiday DWI Blitz and Checkpoint Results

Troopers stopped a vehicle for speeding on St-219 in Boston , 85 mph in a 65 mph zone. The operator WAYNE M. DOCTOR, age 50 of West Seneca failed field sobriety tests and was charged with Aggravated DWI due to his BAC of .20 %.

Troopers stopped another vehicle for speeding on St-219 in Orchard Park. The operator YASMEN T. HULETT, age 50 of Buffalo failed field sobriety tests and was charged with DWI, her BAC was .09 %.

Troopers stopped a vehicle for inadequate brake lights in the village of Hamburg. The operator CHERYL A. MICHELS, age 53 of Forestville failed field sobriety tests and was charged with DWI, her BAC was .12 %.

ERIK F. SOOTHERN, age 37 of Niagara Falls was charged with DWI after being stopped for failure to keep right on Transit Rd in Lancaster. His BAC was .11 %.

SEAN M. EBERTH, age 21 of Elma was stopped for erratic operation on St-20A in Sheldon. He was charged with DWI, BAC of .16 %.

Troopers arrested JASON M. RONCONE, age 30 of Lackawanna for DWI after he was stopped for illegal window tint on St-20A in Wales. He was charged with Aggravated DWI due to BAC of .19 %.

MICHAEL A. MAREK, age 54 of Elma was stopped for failure to keep right on Bowen Rd in Elma. He was charged with Felony DWI due to a previous DWI conviction within 10 years, his BAC was .10 %.

Troopers stopped DAVID T. NELSON, age 45 of Grand Island for failing to keep right on Main St in Clarence. He was charged with DWI, his BAC was .12 %.

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of multiple subjects for Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols early Saturday morning.

While on patrol in District 3, Deputies John Hanna and Ben Pisa of the Elma Substation arrested Bryan J. Gurgol (31) of East Aurora and charged him with DWI, Speeding and Operating a motor vehicle with an open alcoholic beverage after they stopped his vehicle on Big Tree Road (Rt. 20A) in the town of Wales. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .13%. He was processed at the Elma Substation and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in District 2, Deputies Emily Nelson and John Perry of the Clarence Substation arrested Matthew J. Stefani (21) of Alexander and charged him with DWI, running a red light and Disorderly Conduct after stopping his vehicle at the corner of Genesee and Pavement Road in the Town of Lancaster. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .16%. He was processed at the Clarence Substation and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in District 3, Deputy Ben Pisa of the Elma Substation responded to a complaint of a motor vehicle accident with injury on Clinton Street in Elma. Deputy Pisa found the vehicle operated by Daniel M. Ciesla (26) of Alden flipped over on the side of the road. Ciesla was transported by ambulance to ECMC for an assortment of apparently non life threatening injuries. Deputy Pisa arrested Ciesla at ECMC and charged him with DWI, Imprudent Speed, and Failure to maintain the Roadway. A blood sample was secured to determine his blood alcohol content. Ciesla was released on appearance tickets for Elma Court.

While on patrol in District 2, Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and John Perry of the Clarence Substation responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident with injury on Shisler Road in Clarence. After investigating the crash, the Deputies arrested the driver: Peter M. Turley (21) of Williamsville and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions for crashing into a vehicle parked on the side of the road while he was traveling southbound on Shisler. Turley was transported by Twin City Ambulance to ECMC for treatment of a leg injury. A blood sample was secured at ECMC to determine his blood alcohol level. He was processed at the hospital and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in District 6, Deputies John Szczepanski and Rich O’Neil of the North Collins Substation responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident with injury on Rt. 438 on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. After investigating the crash, Deputy Szczepanski arrested the driver of the first vehicle: Jillian T. Trombley (28) of Amherst and charged her with Aggravated DWI and multiple traffic infractions. A breath test revealed her blood alcohol content to be .19%, over twice the legal limit. She was processed at the North Collins Substation and released on appearance tickets. Deputy O’Neil arrested the driver of the second vehicle: Mary K. Elliott (54) of Gowanda and charged her with DWI and traffic infractions at Lakeshore Hospital where she was taken by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. A blood sample was secured to determine her blood alcohol content. She was processed and released on appearance tickets.

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Gowanda woman for Driving While Intoxicated.

While on patrol in District 6, Deputy Tom Van Wie and Tim Coulombe of the Sheriff’s North Collins sub-station, responded to a rollover auto accident with possible injuries. The operator of the vehicle was traveling southbound on Old Lakeshore Rd. when she missed a curve in the road, over corrected, went off the road, hit a stump and rolled over. Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Fire Department transported the operator to Lakeshore Hospital for minor injuries. The Deputies investigation resulted in the arrest of Jessica H. Brant, age 24 for Driving While Intoxicated. Ms. Brant did submit to a chemical test with results to be determined at a later date. A DMV check revealed that Ms. Brant was operating on a restricted use license and was operating outside of the conditions and was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st.

Ms. Brant was released on Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable at a later date in Brant court.

On July 1st through the 3rd, the New York State Police participated in Occupant Safety Details and Sobriety Check Points in the Town of Sherman. The fixed road-checks were located at Wait Corners Rd. in close proximity to Bailey Hill Road.
On July 1st the stationary road-check resulted in (2) felony drug arrests, (3) misdemeanor drug arrests, (1) Criminal Impersonation 2nd arrest (9) Unlawful Poss. of Marijuana arrests, (1) DWI arrest and (47) traffic tickets were issued including (15) seatbelts and (3) child restraint tickets. The following arrests were made:
