WILSON, NY (WKBW/Niagara County Sheriif's Office Press Release) - On August 1, 2012 around Midnight, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a call from a neighbor of Hibbard's Custard Stand, on 289 Young Street, that a person had smashed a window and crawled into the building.

On deputies arrival, it was observed that a large rock had been thrown through an eastside window and a freezer case had been opened inside. Deputies set up a perimeter and notified the owner to respond. Once the owner arrived and unlocked the building, deputies along with Lewiston Police and K9 Radar, conducted a building search.

Stephen Yaksich,25, of Grand Island was located hiding in the shared basement of an adjoining hardware store with stolen ice cream in his possession.

Yaksich was subsequently charged with Burglary 3rd degree and petty larceny. Yaksich was arraigned in Wilson Town Court where bail was set at $20,000 or $40,000 property.
