Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - Firefighters in the Queen City kept very busy in the early morning hours of Wednesday.

The first fire broke out on the 200 block of Townsend Street in Bufflo at 12:40 on Wednesday morning. The vacant home sustained about $25-thousand worth of damage and is believed to be a total loss.

At 1:40 in the morning, a house on the 200 block of Wilson Street also caught fire. Officials tell Eyewitness News the blaze began on the porch and then spread.

That home sustained $25-thousand in damages to the building and $10-thousand to the contents inside. Residents inside the home did not report any injuries.

Those homes are just one block away. Fire investigators are looking into a cause, but do not say if their close proximity increases suspicions.

Shortly before two in the morning, firefighters responded to a call for a smell of gas on Parkridge Avenue. First responders found gasoline splashed onto the property. It is being investigated as an attempted arson.
