Town of Brant, N.Y. (WKBW) - A fatal one-vehicle accident led to one man's arrest for DWI and vehicular manslaughter Friday night.

Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard reports the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and the Town of Brant Police Department are investigating a crash occurring just before 6:30 p.m.

Police say 20-year-old Robert Mooney from the Village of Kenmore, was traveling eastbound on Southwestern Blvd. in a 2003 Jeep Liberty, when he lost control of his vehicle, causing the vehicle to flip several times.

His passenger, 20-year-old Joseph Cavalleri from the Town of Tonawanda, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mooney was transported by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition. He was arrested by Town of Brant Police for DWI and Vehicular Manslaughter.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
