Niagara Falls, NY (WKBW-Release)
Today Niagara Falls Police Detectives charged Chaney P. Ford, 36 years old of NF, NY with Kidnapping 2nd (B felony), Robbery 2nd (C felony), Assault 3rd (A misd.) and Menacing 2nd (A misd.).
The charges stem from an incident reported to Police on October 19, 2011. The victim, who is an acquaintance of Fords, stated she was leaving a convenient store on Hyde Park Blvd in Niagara Falls when Ford forced her into her own car at knife point. She was knocked unconscious at one point and her hands were bound with tape. Ford was driving the vehicle with the victim on the floor of the front passenger side when the victim regained consciousness. The victim then grabbed the steering wheel causing the vehicle to run off the road and end up in a ditch on Garlow Road in Lewiston. The suspect then fled the area and the victim ran off into some thick brush on the side of the road and hid. A short time later the scene was discovered by a passing NY State Trooper. The victim was then taken to Mt. Saint Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Ford was not located at that time. Today Ford was taken into custody without incident at his home by Officers Troy Earp and Tina Zell of the NFPD Warrant Services Unit. Ford spoke with detectives and denied the charges.
