(WKBW) - Erie County Sheriffs made two DWI arrests overnight, the 149th and 150th in the county.
In the first incident, Deputies stopped a vehicle operated by 29-year-old Max Nelson of the Village of East Aurora, when he observed the vehicle speeding, unable to stay in its lane and failing to obey a no passing zone on East River Road in the Town of Grand Island.
Upon conducting the traffic stop, Nelson was found to be intoxicated. He was taken into custody and transported to the Erie County Sheriff's Grand Island Substation. A chemical breath test was administered to Nelson, showing his blood alcohol content to be .17%.
Nelson was previously convicted of a DWI in March of 2007, and was charged with Felony DWI and numerous other vehicle and traffic charges. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in the Town of Grand Island Court at a later date.
Deputies also responded to a report of a vehicle being operated recklessly on Clinton Street in the Town of Elma. The driver, 27-year-old Nicole Bates of Elma, was found to be intoxicated.
Bates was taken into custody and transported to the Erie County Sheriff's Elma Substation, where she refused to submit to a chemical breath test.
Bates was charged with DWI and other vehicle and traffic charges and taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in the Town of Elma Court at a later date.
