Albion, NY (WKBW) - While walking into Albion Town Court in shackles for his formal arraignment, 21-year-old Carlos Cardenas said nothing, but following his court proceeding his wife Kimberly had plenty to say. Carlos Cardenas is accused of raping and killing his sister in law 15-year-old Katherine Sanchez.

"What was the reason why he hurt my sister?," said Kimberly Cardenas. "She didn't do anything to him! I want to know why he did it."

In a graphic written confession, Cardenas says he raped and strangled Sanchez in the bathroom of his East State Street home on January 15th. Cardenas wrote he kept Sanchez's body for days in the basement of his home and then buried her body in a shallow grave inside an apple orchard. Cardenas is now facing 2nd degree murder charges and plead not-guilty Thursday in Albion Town Court. His case will now move to Orleans County Court.
