Alden, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- A 28-year-old Buffalo woman was arrested on various charges Monday for allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into the Erie County Correctional Facility.

Desirae James was taken into custody and arraigned on charges of Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and a felony charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree.

According to the Erie County Sheriff's Office, a K-9 dog allegedly alerted to an odor of contraband on James' person and on a locker she was using in the visiting area. A search of the locker led to the discovery of balloons containing marijuana, cocaine, tobacco, rolling papers and matches, in addition to James' personal belongings, according to authorities.

Police also allege that additional drugs were found in James' vehicle in the facility's parking lot, and that additional marijuana and cocaine was recovered from the vehicle.
