BUFFALO, NY ( release ) Buffalo police continue to investigate the shooting death of a 28 year old male, that occurred around 10:10PM Monday night.
Homicide Squad detectives were called to the scene, to conduct the investigation, along with Crime Scene Unit personnel.
"The investigation at this time indicates that there was a robbery attempt, in which the victim was shot by an unknown individual," according to Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives. "The victim was rushed to Erie County Medical Center, but he was declared dead at the hospital," Richards said.
Northeast District officers responding to a call of a shooting in the vicinity of Marigold near Shawnee Streets located the victim, apparently suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was the driver of a GMC Envoy, in the vicinity of 101 Marigold Street.
The vehicle he was driving proceeded down the street, striking several other vehicles, after the driver had been shot.
Police have identified the victim as Stephen Sanders, of Buffalo.
This is the city's 34th homicide of the year.
