BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - We’re learning more about how police obtained a graphic video that led to the conviction of two Buffalo men.

It all happened in the basement of a home on Jewett Ave in Buffalo. 24-year-old Barry Workman, was brutally attacked by two men over drug debt. The torture lasted for 17 hours back in December.

It was because of the public’s help, police were able to arrest and charge the two men, 29-year-old Stephen Dawson and 23-year-old Wesley Woods.

Our source, who would not go on-camera says, “I saw the scene on Facebook the day after it happened. I watched the video and felt law enforcement needed to be involved. I brought the video to the attention of the police. This is how crimes are solved.”

Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita says the video was taken by the captors and was a huge part in this case.

“They would so proud of their behavior they had to record it,” said Sedita. “They had to share it with their friends and associates.”

Our source says it’s important that when the public sees something disturbing, they speak up.
