GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (WKBW) - A Brooklyn man was arrested Saturday night for having 26 suspensions and revocations on his license on 14 different dates.

Police say at around 10:28 p.m., Troop T, SP Albany, arrested 53-year-old Edwin Mejias for Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation

A Trooper stopped Edwin Mejias on the New York State Thruway in the Town of Guilderland for a violation of the “Move Over Law” when he passed a State Police Car assisting a disabled vehicle in the work zone between exit 23 and exit 24 of the Thruway.

After stopping Mejias, a DMV check found he had 26 active suspensions and revocations on 14 different dates in New York State and his 4-year-old granddaughter, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was not in a proper safety restraint.

The car was towed and his granddaughter was turned over to a family friend.

Mejias was charged with the Felony of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and several traffic violations.

He is currently being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility pending arraignment later today in the Town of Guilderland.
