ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WKBW) - The Community Bank in Orchard Park was robbed Friday afternoon, police say.
Police say at approximately 1:43 p.m., the Community Bank at 5 Clark Street was robbed of a yet determined amount of cash. The perpetrator fled the scene but moments later drove into a utility pole on School Street at the entrance to the Village Pines.
He continued on in his gray 2004 Chevy Impala and was last scene heading west on Route 20A towards the 219. A computer message was sent out with a description of the vehicle and possible plate number. At approximately 2:52 p.m., the vehicle was stopped by Buffalo Police in the Rite Aid parking lot on West Ferry Street.
The driver, 42-year-old Michael Johnson was returned to the Orchard Park Police Department, where he was charged with Robbery in the First Degree and various Vehicle and Traffic Law Charges.
Johnson was arraigned and transported to the Erie County Holding Center on $15,000 bail.
