ATTICA, NY (WKBW/Release) - On December 11th, 2012, at about 11:15 A.M., Attica Police observed a subject running across North Walnut Street with a female chasing him.

The female reported to police that the subject was in her house located on North View Park, and when she went to call her husband, she observed the subject exit her home. While trying to escape she grabbed him removing his jacket from him.

In addition to the jacket, Attica Police located the stolen items from the victim’s home in a ravine along North Walnut Street.

An extensive search took place in a wooded area in Attica by the Attica Police Department, the New York State Police including K-9 and Helicopter, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department, and the New York State Corrections K-9 Officer.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Forensic Unit responded to the Victim’s home and was able to gather evidence including possible DNA.

Based upon items located during the search, the Attica Police and Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department were able to identify 19-year-old, Joshua Beck and arrest him on December 12th, 2012.

While the actions of the Victim in this case greatly assisted police in locating and arresting Beck, police do not recommend victims confronting unknown subjects on their own.

Beck was arraigned in front of the honorable Judge Robinson and was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond and with a return court date of January 7th, 2013.
