Amherst Police Investigate Assault

AMHERST, NY (WKBW) The Amherst Police Department has launched an assault investigation after a 22-year-old woman claims she was attacked from behind in the backyard of her Harlem Road home.

Police tell Eyewitness News the victim reported being assaulted around 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The incident was reported at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

The victim told officers she was grabbed and pulled backwards to the ground and that she hit her head and may have blacked out. She reported seeing a man standing over her. The man then fled northbound on Harlem Road.

Officers canvassed the victim's neighbors on Harlem Road, but were unable to locate any witnesses.
