AMHERST, NY ( WKBW) Amherst Police are investigating a fatal hit and run accident that happened at 11:30 p.m. Friday night.
18-year-old Alexandria Rice of Amherst was skateboarding in the area of 573 Heim Road when she was hit by a car. Rice was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the 2010 BMW, 55-year-old James G. Corasanti of Getzville, was located at a gas station on Millersport Highway. Through police investigation, the car thought to be driven by the suspect was located at a Getzville home, inside the garage.
Corasanti was charged with DWI and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Late Saturday night, the Buffalo Medical Group issued a statement obtained by Eyewitness News on the status of Dr. Corasanti:

The Buffalo Medical Group is aware of the accident which occurred Friday evening and the apparent involvement, as reported by several media outlets, of Dr. Corasanti.
The Buffalo Medical Group is saddened by this tragedy, and extends our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Rice. Buffalo Medical Group is taking all appropriate action to ensure there will be no interruption in quality patient care.
Dr. Corasanti has voluntarily withdrawn, on a temporary basis, from patient care activities.
