A Murder for Hire Plot is Foiled

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) A woman is accused of orchestrating a murder for hire plot to kill her mother-in-law.

Jean Stanton, a 29 year-old womam from Depew was arrested by Buffalo Police on the corner of Clinton and Bailey on Tuesday, before she could see her plan through.

Stanton's mother-in-law, who is a Buffalo resident, caught wind of the murder plot and went straight to police after the initial hitman she tried to hire got cold feet.

He is not facing any charges.

Police say the mother-in-law understood that her daughter-in-law was plotting to kill her and an undercover sting was set up quickly by Buffalo Police.

Stanton offered an undercover officer $1,000 for the hit. If that was sucessfull, she wanted to retain the officer's services to kill her sister-in-law and husband, who she appears to be seperated from.

Stanton was released from custody on Tuesday and the case has been transefered to a grand jury. She is facing 20-25 years in Prison.
