16-year-old Shot Dead in Buffalo Neighborhood

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - A 16-year-old boy was gunned down near his Riverside neighborhood home at about 4:20 p.m. Friday afternoon.

According to police, the teen, who sources have identified as 16-year-old Lewis Adams, was shot while getting into a car on Deer Street near Hertel Avenue. Buffalo Police Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards says the young man was targeted in the slaying.

The gunman is described as a young male wearing a hoodie. According to police, he got out of a black Pontiac Grand Am with at least two others inside, gunning down the victim in the middle of the street. The suspect then got back in the car, which drove off heading east on Hertel Avenue toward Elmwood.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, where a crowd of family and friends stood exchanging hugs and looking on in disbelief.
