Wednesday morning marks a major milestone for Western New York and Canalside, as crews break ground on the long-awaited Explore & More Children's Museum.
The final design for the multi-million dollar project was approved back in February, clearing way for construction to begin.
The 43,000 square foot building is expected to see over 250,000 visitors each year once the new location opens in late 2018. It will feature seven educational hands-on play zones all designed to tell the story of Buffalo.
The project, led by LeChase Construction of Rochester, will be designed to look like it was originally constructed over a century ago.
A special groundbreaking ceremony is set for 10:00am, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul is expected to be in attendance.
