A Corrections Officer is recovering after being assaulted by an inmate while at Erie County Medical Center in June.
According to the NYSCOPBA, the officer sustained a concussion when the inmate broke free of his restraints, while being treated at the hospital, and hit the officer in the head with a wall monitor.
Officers were able to get the inmate back under control and into restraints.
The injured officer was treated for a concussion. He has not returned to duty.
NYSCOPBA says the 32-year-old inmate is currently serving a 13-year sentence at Attica Correctional Facility. The inmate's name is not being released.
