BUFFALO, NY (BUSINESS FIRST OF BUFFALO) -- SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Co. says it will shutdown its Buffalo customer center at the Walden Galleria due to economic reasons. The closing is planned for Sept. 1. Eight people work at the office.
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York says its manufacturing index hit 19.6 points in June, up half a point from May. This is the 11th straight month the index has been in positive territory. Researchers say that shows an "ongoing expansion of business activity." The report says new orders and shipments grew. CEO optimism dipped a bit, but manufacturers are still positive about the next six months.
Some changes at Bush Industries in Jamestown. The company has rebranded one of its two divisions. Its commercial furniture unit is now called BBF, Bush Business Furniture. Company officials say they want to create a "more flexible, contemporary brand, well positioned for the changing economy." Bush will unveil the new operation this week and release two new commercial collections.
