Buffalo Common Council President Darius Pridgen has been outspoken about the recent problems between the community and police. He says there's a deep mistrust between parties that needs to be addressed immediately.

"I cannot express how serious this could be for our community," said Pridgen.

Pridgen says all sides need to work together, for peace and resolution.

"The majority of police and detectives out on the streets are good cops," said Pridgen. "Don't judge every police officer because they wear a badge and a gun."

The local leader says police rely heavily on the community for help in solving crimes, and if the trust is broken, this could be a huge issue.

"When these shootings/crimes are happening, the police arent standing there," said Pridgen. "If the breakdown of trust happens simply because of cries for justice, than we're in trouble. Don't mistrust police because of the actions of a few, and then allow our neighborhoods that are already in chaos to end up worse off."
