Cheektowaga residents are being warned about solicitors who have been going to various homes in the area.
The Cheektowaga Police Department says that they have received complaints about the Town of Cheektowaga and NYSEG sending representatives to residents' homes, asking to see utility bills.
Police want to clarify that this is a private company, and not the Town of Cheektowaga or NYSEG.
The people represent a company called "New York Gas and Electric," or "United States Gas and Electric."
Police want to urge residents that they are aggressive, and to use caution when dealing with them.
Residents are also being told that they do not have to show anyone their utility bills.
