A veteran Cheektowaga lawmaker admits he violated an order of protection against him issued for his wife.

Councilman James Rogowski pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of attempted criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.

According to prosecutors, Rogowski followed his wife in his vehicle in an aggressive manner on February 23 of this year in West Seneca. He rapidly changed lanes while pursuing her, causing her to fear for her physical safety.

Rogowski faces up to 90 days in jail or one year probation when he is sentenced on November 13.

He has refused calls to resign his seat with the Cheektowaga Town Board.

Rogowski is also a teacher in the Lockport City School District. The district said it is unable to comment on his status with the district "due to the legal and contractual issues involved."
