Spreading the 'Buffalove' through social media— that's the goal of one local artist.

"I moved away and came back even when everyone was telling me to get out. I love it here," says Casey Milbrand as he tries to keep warm.

Milbrand sometimes paints through the night, into early morning hours because of the quiet. He says during the day there's a lot of foot traffic and a lot of distractions.

Milbrand has been working on the crowd-funded project for four months and just has a few finishing details to put on the mural.

Situated on the south wall of the Washington Market on Ellicott Street, the postcard mural reads 'Greetings from Buffalo' in bright colors.

The mural's sun backdrop is inspired by the Common Council chambers. A buffalo is stepping out of frame to explore the city.

Milbrand says he chose the location because of the proximity to Canalside, the medical campus and hotels—accessible to travelers and residents.

The reception to the mural has been consistent since he started his project. "I love that we live in a city where people are willing to take time out of their day and compliment me, it just speaks to the diversity and kindness of Buffalo," says Milbrand.

Greetings from Buffalo, a city on the rise.
