Buffalo's Catholic Diocese is ready to part ways with one of its more lavish properties here in Western New York.

Bishop Richard Malone has approved a recommendation to sell the Saint Columban Center.

The mansion, which is located along the shores of Lake Erie in Derby, has a listing of nearly two-million dollars.

The Columban Center has been used mainly as a retreat center for decades.

The Georgian mansion was built in 1914 as a summer residence for the Hans Schmidt family, which ran a leather tanning business in Buffalo.
