With the Fourth of July in the books, local businesses are still feeling the benefit of holiday foot traffic down at Canalside.

With thousands of people in attendance for a day of festivities, fireworks and family-fun, local vendors like Liberty Hound, say busy holidays like Independence Day, Labor Day and Memorial Day are very important when it comes to boosting everyday business.

"The line is usually out the door. During holidays like this, especially when they fall close to a weekend, turnover is high. For us it's a great, especially because people are down here to enjoy a full day of activities," Meslissa Smith, Bar Manager at Liberty Hound said.

From 11:30 a.m. on July 4th, to the wee hours of the morning on July 5th, the popular Canalside restaurant catered to people - from food and drink, to just a bit of patio living.

"We'll clear out for a bit when people go to watch the fireworks, then everyone will file back in and it's back to business again," Smith continued.

Partnership is another way businesses down by the water boost business.

Working together, while doing something different, to benefit the greater community.
