There are more than 200 millionaires in the U.S. House of Representatives, and Rep. Louise Slaughter is one of them.
Slaughter, D-Fairport, had a net worth of $2.39 million as of last year, according to a report published by the Washington Post on Tuesday.
Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, was far behind with a net worth of $146,005. Western New York's third House member, Rep. Kathy Hochul, D-Amherst, was not included in the study because she wasn't elected to the House until May 2011.
Former Rep. Chris Lee, who resigned his House seat in February in the wake of a sex scandal, had a net worth of $17.85 million last year. Hochul was elected to replace Lee.
The Post analyzed the financial disclosure statements filed by 518 House members, including those who retired or were newly elected last year. Those guidelines allowed the inclusion of two members for districts that changed representatives last year.
