The YMCA Buffalo Niagara kicked off its Strong Kids Campaign on Tuesday night, with a goal of raising $572,500 by March 6.

The eight-week campaign will be lead by Dr. Richanne Mankey, general campaign chairman, with the help of 250 volunteers.

The campaign supports scholarships for school age child care, summer camp programs and family membership assistance.

Strong Kids has a history of surpassing its goal: last year the YMCA surpassed its $555,000 goal, raising $557,100; and in 2010, received pledges of $538,448 on a target of $530,000.
