It's becoming as traditional as turkey on Thanksgiving; pizza on Thanksgiving Eve. Before families sit down to eat turkey on the holiday, many of them will order out for pizza tonight.

The night before Thanksgiving is one of the top pizza selling days of the year, according to the National Restaurant Association (NRA). Pizza is an easy meal as consumers gather for the holidays, but want to stay out of the kitchen before the big day.

Pizza Hut even came out with a press release unveiling a nickname for the busy day, "Red Roof Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, is one of our busiest days of the year," said Kurt Kane, CMO, Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut expects to sell more than 1 million pizzas today. The chain is running specials for online orders, giveaways and more.

The NRA says the top five pizza sales days are:
1. Super Bowl Sunday
2. New Year's Eve
3. Halloween
4. The night before Thanksgiving
5. New Year's Day

Pizza Hut alone expects today's pizza orders to exceed 1,200 tons of pizza. That's equivalent to the weight of 151,000 Thanksgiving turkeys.
