There are a lot of aspiring gymnasts out there after this year's gymnastics competition at the Summer Olympics in London. It's perfect timing for Fisher-Price in East Aurora to introduce the new, interactive Fantastic Gymnastics Dora Doll to young children.
Fisher-Price actually teamed up with five-time olympic medalist Nastia Liukin to market the Dora doll. Liukin is a 2008 champion who didn't qualify for this year's games, but she was chosen to work with the gymnasts as their athlete representative in London.
The doll performs four gymnastics routines and features seven unique moves. Liukin says she has mastered each one of them.
"I can do all the moves that Dora can do," she said. "I think it's really cool that she can do all the moves and hopefully the children playing with her can repeat what she does too."
Liukin says she hopes to inspire more young girls to become gymnasts with the doll that is for sale this month at retail stores.
Fisher-Price officials call Gymnastics Dora a good role model for children. It will likely become a hot holiday toy item!
