Factory jobs stagnant

A new report says factory jobs dropped by one percent across New York state in the past year. That's 6,900 jobs. But the decline is actually an improvement since there was a 2.5 percent drop the previous year and a 6 percent drop the year before that. Manufacturers' News says the sector was flat in Western New York.

Kohl's Department Stores plans to hire more than 40,000 associates for the holiday season, up five percent from last year. The jobs are in stores, distribution centers and credit operations. Kohl's has more than 1,100 stores in 49 states.

A dozen outstanding CFSs will be recognized at an event tomorrow. Business First is teaming up with The Bonadio Group and Citizens Bank for the annual financial executives awards. The winners were chosen by a panel of community members for their influence at work and in the community.
