Four recordings featuring Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director/Principal Conductor JoAnn Falletta are being combined into a single Grammy nomination.
Classical music producer Tim Handley's body of work for the past year has put him in the running for "2013 Producer of the Year" for the Grammy's. Included in his nomination package are a quartet of discs Falletta released this year for the Naxos label, including one she recorded with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
"I am thrilled that four of my recordings are included in the body of work for which he (Handley) has been nominated for a Grammy as best producer," Falletta said.
Falletta said she enjoys working with Handley "whose musicianship, intelligence and extraordinary recording skills have always produced CDs of superb quality."
The Falletta discs in Handley's "producer package" include Ken Fuchs "Atlantic Riband" collection, which also features BPO concertmaster and first violinist Michael Ludwig and the London Symphony Orchestra; a series of George Gershwin pieces recorded by the BPO; another collection of modern pieces with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and her first recordings with the Ulster Orchestra.
Handley, Falletta and the BPO were one of the Grammy finalists in 2011.
The Grammys will awarded on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.
