A new motor speedway is racing into Fort Erie, while business at Fort Erie Race Track slows to a crawl. The Ontario Municipal Board has approved the Fort Erie Motor Speedway, which will have 65-thousand seats and will target Nascar events and more. It is slated to open in 2014.

That news comes as an Ontario horse racing panel has suggested that much of the thoroughbred horse racing shift from Fort Erie Race Track to Ajax Downs, near Toronto. The panel recommends that Fort Erie host 30 races this coming summer, down from 81 this season. Many are lobbying to save the track.

A report in this week's Business First shows how Brian Moorman remains dedicated to WNY, even though he is no longer with the Buffalo Bills. Moorman is now a Dallas Cowboy. He visited Orchard Park students recently who raised money for his PUNT Foundation. It will remain in WNY with a new executive director, Gwen Mysiak. She met Moorman when her cousin was battling cancer at Roswell Park. PUNT helps kids and their families who are affected by cancer.
