A Buffalo coffee maker is brewing probiotic coffee, that's good for you. Tipton Mills will be making and selling the new instant coffee under its own brand name. The single-serve coffee is made with a probiotic, a good-bacteria that aids in digestion. Tipton Mills is a Buffalo-based contract manufacturer of coffee, hot cocoa and other products. It was founded in 1999. A report in this week's Business First says the company's new facility on William Street, should be up and running by Thanksgiving. Eventually, up to 10 people will be hired to work on the probiotic line.

Area colleges are looking for ways to track job placement rates for graduates and debating if those numbers should be made public. A Business First report shows how Niagara University tracks former students about six months after they graduate for a private survey. Buffalo State releases a report every three years, but the last one only had a 16% response rate so some wonder if job-tracking information is accurate or if it tells the whole story.

Business First is hosting a Business Growth Expo next week, on Tuesday, October 16th. It runs from 11am to 5pm at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. You can call 541-1631 for more information or register online at, under News Links or at, under Events.
