ECMC to Expand OR

ECMC is considering a $15 million project to expand its operating rooms. The hospital filed plans with the State Department of Health to build two new operating rooms within its new medical office building. That's in addition to 12 existing operating rooms. This year, the number of transplants alone is expected to top 100, while orthopedic and breast surgeries are on the rise. A report in this week's Business First says some procedures are now done on Saturdays to accommodate growth and they expect the trend to continue.

The Buffalo Bills could cash in on casino- based advertising, thanks to a new NFL rule. The NFL is allowing limited ads, in the stadium and in print, through March 21, 2014, when it will be reviewed again. The Bills say it could be a very positive step for them based on the number of area casinos. You can read more in this week's Business First.
