Battistoni Cooks Up Expansion Plans

BUFFALO, NY ( Business First ) Battistoni Italian Specialty Meats is ending 2011 with nearly double production totals, along with increased sales at retail, foodservice and wholesale levels. Battistoni's 23 employees make more than five million pounds of products every year.

Rich Products bought Battistoni in 2005 and sold it to Providential Foods, headed up by Eric and Becky Naber, in 2010. Eric Naber says he's using his background from the food industry to take the company to a new level.

"We are currently expanding our local favorite meats to retailers and wholesalers throughout the rest of New York State, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois," Naber said. "Since our acquisition two years ago, our production has nearly doubled with expected additional growth of branded and private label business in 2012."

Naber says he still makes Battistoni meats the old-fashioned way, which dates back to 1931. Many area stores carry Battistoni products. Chances are you'll find many of them at holiday celebrations across WNY.
