A new sales benchmark for local condominiums has been reached.

A 16th floor, two-level condo in the Avant has been bought by Try-It Distributing Co. Inc. CEO Eugene Vukelic and his wife, Carol for $1,597,500, according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's office.

The condo has more than 3,000-square-feet and offers picturesque views of downtown Buffalo, the Niagara River and Canada.

The deal bests the previous sales mark for local condos by more than $200,000. Of the 27 condos in the Avant, four have sold for more than $1 million, according to public documents.

The highest price for a single-family residence took place in October 2010 when a Canadian couple purchased the historic Miller Mansion on Nottingham Terrace for $1.7 million from businessman and civic leader Richard Snowden.
