In one of the last steps before construction commences, a Phoenix-based investment group has officially purchased an Amherst property where a new McDonald's restaurant will be built.

Levine Investments L.P., on behalf of McDonald's USA LLC, paid $1,363,600 for the former Eggertsville United Church of Christ property at the corner of Sheridan Drive and Sweet Home Road, according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's office.

The property had been owned by Acquest Sheridan LLC, an affiliate of Acquest Development Co. Acquest Sheridan paid $500,000 for the property when it bought the parcel in April 2009.

Construction on the planned 4,033-square-foot McDonald's is expected to start this spring. The project has received all the necessary municipal approvals from the Amherst Town Board and Amherst Planning Board.

Located just across from the Great Skate and not far from a recently opened Walmart store along Sheridan Drive.
