Olean's 73-year-old wastewater treatment plant is in need of repairs.

The Olean Times Herald reports that one of the facility's three digesters has been taken offline, while the other two are working at reduced capacity.

The city's public works director, Tom Windus, says there is no immediate health danger.

"Yes, (the digesters have) malfunctioned and we're trying to make them fully operational again, but we're still able to cook in them and let them do what they need to do on a smaller basis," he says.
