Buffalo Lands Inaugural Hockey Game

Buffalo beat out six other cities in the bid for an upcoming hockey event. A report in this week's Business First shows how Buffalo will host the first ever All-American Prospects Game, featuring a showcase of young American hockey prospects. Similar events are held for canadian prospects. So besides hockey fans, the game is likely to attract NHL scouts and more. It will take place Sept. 29 at First Niagara Center. USA Hockey says Buffalo has a good reputation for hosting sporting events like the 2011 World Juniors. The exact players and other details will be announced in June.

WNY's Multisorb Technologies is on a growth spurt. The company makes packaged absorbents that protect items from moisture, like the little canisters inside medication bottles or the packets inside lunch meat packages. A report in this week's Business First says this is now a $100 million business for Multisorb and the company is expanding worldwide with opportunities in India and Brazil. 600 people work at Multisorb in WNY.
